Heather Coupe

Heather graduated from the University of Bristol in 2021 both with an undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science and a postgraduate degree in Global Wildlife Health and Conservation. Heather also holds an Official Veterinarian qualification (Meat Premises) and certificates as both an Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) and Poultry Welfare Officer (PWO).

Heather’s particular interest is exotic animal medicine. She completed an exotic animal internship at Highcroft Veterinary Hospital handling both first opinion and referral cases, and was employed prior to her current role as a Veterinary Officer at Paignton Zoo and Environmental Park. She was the Student President for the European Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians (EAZWV), has presented at the British Veterinary Zoological Society conference for multiple years and has ran webinars for Just Exotics to assist veterinary surgeons in learning more about exotic medicine.

Outside of work Heather enjoys time in nature, painting and global travel.
